The Characters of Kaleido Star

Fool - the Spirit of the Kaleido Stage, he only can be seen by people who are chosen by the stage.

Layla Hamilton - is the Kaleido Stage's top star, until Sora enters the scene. At first, Layla and Sora are rivals because, like May, Layla doesn't approve with Sora's last-minute arrival at the Stage, but soon after they become partners. Proud and elegant, Layla is among the best circus performers in the world, and is well-known for her "Golden Phoenix" trick.

Sora Naegino - is 16 years old. Ever since she saw the act "Alice in Wonderland", she wanted to be a part of the Kaleido Stage - not only that, she wants to be the real Kaleido Star, as well. The "Alice" act is the last that she saw with her parents before they died in an accident. After many searches, she finds her dream to be the making of a conflict-free stage, for everyone to enjoy!

Yuri Killian - is also 17 and comes from Russia. He is a calm person who often rescues Sora or puts her back on track whenever she feels down. He is the partner of Layla, but he has a deep secret.

Leon Oswald - the "shinigami" who travels through different countries of Europe looking for a perfect partner that can equal his skills. After seeing Sora's performances, he discovers her potential and that there's more to her than he innitially thought.

Rosetta Passel - the "Diabolo Machine", but just a child, is from Belgium. She won the world championship for diabolo when she was only 9 years old. Rosetta arrives at the Kaleido Stage strictly to perform, but she slowly starts to interact with the other members, thanks to Sora. Her dream is it to perform with Sora, who taught her to accept to be not perfect.

May Wong - doesn't want to accept Sora at the Stage. She doesn't like Sora. She describes herself as the "second Layla Hamilton". May thinks that only she can be the real partner of Leon Oswald and constantly tries to bypass Sora and prove she is the best.

Mia Guillem - is also 16-17 like Sora and Anna. She is interested in computers and is the playwright of the Stage. Her talent is visible in the show at the Marine Park, when she manages to finish the script of the show in only 10 minutes. She is the friend of Sora and Anna.

Anna Heart - is 16-17 Years old. She is friends with Sora and Mia. She often wants to be funny because of her dad, who is a comedian. She loves to make other people laugh but she also love the Kaleido Stage and can be dramatic at times (often when she doesn't want it!).

Marion Benigni - is the daughter of one of the late stars of Kaleido Stage (her mother, a trampoline star, died during a performance). Marion is best seen in her performances with Jonathan, a baby seal that seems to listen only to her words. Her father takes care of the elements in the background of every show.

Kalos Eido - is the manager of the Kaleido Stage. Although Layla and Sora sometimes don't agree with his choices, it turns out he was right to make them. Although he is the "boss" (as Sora calls him), he dresses casually and can often be seen walking with his hands in his pockets.

Sarah Dupont - is the diva of the Stage, although there's more to her than meets the eye (as Sora has the chance to find out pretty soon!). Aside from her beautiful voice, she also has a passion for martial arts and can be considered naive by people who don't know her. She is kind at heart and always eager to help out. Sarah also has a secret.

Jonathan - an adorable baby seal who was found on the beach by Sora. She takes him to the Stage, only to find out she isn't allowed to keep him. After many adventures, Kalos decides to let Jonathan stay at the Stage, as a mascot. The little seal becomes Marion's partner.

First OVA - The Amazing Princess Who Doesn't Smile

This OVA focuses mainly on Rosetta, who must train for her first leading role in the "Princess and the Fool" show. One day, a strange painting arrives at the Kaleido Stage, a painting that seems to be a portrait of Rosetta and Fool. As the OVA continues, we find out more about the Princess/Fool couple, about their forbidden love. Rosetta runs away from the Kaleido Stage, believing she isn't talented enough, but along the way she learns a lot about herself and returns in time for the show.

Second OVA - Legend of Phoenix ~ Layla Hamilton Monogatari

A new show, on Broadway. Layla and the acrobats of the Kaleido Stage are called for a big performance: The Golden Phoenix, with Layla and Sora as the two Phoenix's. However, the tension is building up, and Layla feels the need for solitude. She goes on a bike trip, meeting various people along the way and sorting out her feelings. We find out the story of Layla Hamilton, the girl whose mother died when she was young and who vowed to never cry again so as not to disappoint her father (and herself). Sora, Fool, May and Ken set out on a search for Layla in Cathy's car and manage to find her, bringing her back. Layla goes through a physical change which she says is necessary for a new beggining. Both of them having found their Phoenix's, Layla and Sora's performance is a huge success.

Third OVA - Good Da~Yo! Goood! (It's Good! Goood!)

This OVA is merely a collage of 3 different scenes: May's cooking lesson (where she is assisted by Sora and Layla), Rosetta teaching Ken the basics of the diabolo (although Ken fails most of the time and Rosetta doesn't encourage him too much), and Marion and Jonathan's seal language lesson to Sora (which is trickier than meets the eye!). All the characters are in chibi form, and the backgrounds are 3D.
